The shining (1980)
Starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall and Danny Lloyd
(might be spoilers, so SPOILERS ALERT!)

If you don’t know the story about a little family’s father going crazy inside a big hotel with the rest of ‘em, isolated because of the massive storms of heavy snow, you’ve missed a legendary story here. And I am not gonna talk or mention the book it’s based on ;)

The shining is about Jack Torrance, a writer and father, who has to watch over the Overlook Hotel with his wife, Wendy and little but peculiar 6-year old son, Danny. Things start to run wild and unexpected, as Jack starts to lose his mind and almost kill his family.
It’s a weird movie, and I think everyone has the same thoughts about it. Why? -Well, my mind can’t keep up with all the little details -I’m talking about the scary ones: the famous scene with the twin-girls, the meeting with Mr. Delbert Grady, CAN WE DISCUSS THE WEIRD SCENE AT THE END THOUGH?? -ahem, and so on…
There are so many details, that you -and I recommend it- should re-watch to realize, if you want some shocking symbols to make sense :D And I did that more than twice, because I… yeah, I overanalyse, but I’m not sorry about it, as long as I don’t speak up about it!
Anyway - I’ve learned that these details might not always mean anything special each time, in every movie, so… you’re just playing with me, Kubrick?

The movie is a psychological horror, a good one, if bunch of creepy details and a good creep means the most to you. This is one of those movies that’ll make you think twice about your prediction of the ending. And it’ll make you love it for it’s special and good delivery of hidden meanings, that just gives it an extra touch! Stanley, you did a good job! (No matter what Mr. King and people used to say back in the 80′s). This movie is a good one to analyse for every single movie lover, like me :D

4,5/6 stars!
